The Bone Mill, Worcester

The Bone Mill is a landmark Grade II* listed building in Worcester and an important part of the historic Royal Worcester Porcelain Works. Dating from 1852, the building is a remarkable survivor of the city’s industrial heritage, with its distinctive brickwork, tall chimney and original machinery preserving the story of porcelain production on the site.

Our project will give this exceptional building a sustainable new life through a carefully considered, heritage-led conversion. The completed development will provide five thoughtfully designed apartments alongside flexible co-working space, creating a distinctive place to live and work within one of Worcester’s most significant historic buildings.

Conservation is at the heart of the design. Original brickwork and important architectural details will be repaired and retained, while surviving industrial features - including the historic gearing exhibit and bone-grinding machinery - will be restored and incorporated into the new spaces. Carefully designed contemporary additions, including new glazing, rooflights and improved access, will introduce natural light and modern comfort while respecting the Bone Mill’s robust industrial character.

By combining sensitive restoration with practical new uses, the project will safeguard the Bone Mill for future generations and contribute to the continuing regeneration of the former Royal Worcester Porcelain Works.
